To make a compact mini-vice on bearings, first you need to make a template with a marking on a suitable piece of foil fiberglass. Then it is necessary to tin the copper spots and drill holes with a diameter of 1 mm. In the central patch you need to drill a hole with a diameter of 3 mm.
By the way, tinning of the spots was made in order to ensure the highest possible accuracy of drilling.
Using the M3 screw with a washer, we fix the template to a segment of the steel channel, which will serve as the bed for the vise. We expose the template to the square and additionally fix it with a clamp or using superglue.
The main stages of work
Next, through the template, it will be necessary to drill holes with a diameter of 3 mm for screws with M3 nuts, after which we remove the template from fiberglass and we get a series of holes that are drilled strictly according to the required dimensions.
Based on the previously made template, we make the same template, but already from wood - with it, we cut the M4 thread in the vise frame. Using a wooden template eliminates distortions when tapping a thread.
Now, from the steel bar with a diameter of 4 mm, six rods with a length of 20 mm must be cut and M4 thread cut into them (approximately to the middle) - they will be used as holders for six small bearings with an inner diameter of 4 mm.
On the following we make sponges: one is attached to the bed and is stationary, the other is welded to the plate, which moves between the bearings. Then we collect a mini-vise. See the detailed assembly process in the video on the site.
