What do you usually do with a blown bulb? Are you taking it for recycling, just throwing it in the trash? I propose to give the bulb a second life and, thereby, save nature from excess dirt harmful to it. Ask how else can you use the light bulb, besides its usual use, especially when it burned out? Now you will learn how! Today I will teach you how to create a very beautiful and “light” balloon from an old burnt out light bulb.
What you will need to work:
  • Several skeins of yarn in different colors. The brighter you pick up the threads, the more fun the balloon will look.
  • Crochet hook.
  • Scissors.
  • Brown yarn for a basket of balloons.
  • And, in fact, a burnt out bulb, of a classical form.

We start knitting with the Amigurumi loop so that there is no hole in the center, but if you want to make the ball more openwork, you can leave the hole. We collect six loops.

We knit the second row of two loops in each column of the lower row. You should get 12 columns.

Now we begin to create a pattern. We knit the third row of double crochet. We knit a double crochet, we draw two air loops, skip the two lower columns and repeat the double crochet and air loops. So we knit until the row ends.

Now you can change the thread. Do not cut the green thread, it will still be needed. I knit a simple striped balloon, you can have it multicolored. We tie a white thread and knit two rows with it.

Now again we change the thread to green. White as well as green, do not cut off. We knit one row in green and we do the next row again with a pattern of double crochets and air loops. We knit another row of ordinary columns in green and again add a white thread.

Now that we have reached the widest part of the light bulb, it's time to narrow the knit. We begin to gradually reduce the loops in the same way as they added. We knit two more rows in white and at the end two rows in green.

We start to knit a basket. We make the bottom of 3-4 rows with an extension of single crochet. We start, as usual, with the Amigurumi loop. Next, we knit several rows without additions, until we cover the entire metal base of the bulb. To make the bottom of the basket flat, you can insert a cardboard circle into it or fill it with a little padding polyester. Thanks to this trick, the bottom of the knitted basket will not fit the base of the light bulb and will be flat rather than round.

It turns out here is such a cute balloon. If desired, you can make slings using a regular white thread for sewing. Just from the basket to the green part of the ball around the perimeter, make several strips of white thread, and you get a good imitation of slings.

From such a balloon, you can make a beautiful pendant for decorating the interior, an original Christmas-tree decoration, or make a stand out of wire, for example, and use the balloon as a figurine. So, from an ordinary burned out light bulb, you can make an original decoration.
