This simple device is definitely useful in the home workshop. With it, you can reliably and firmly fix the part or workpiece to the surface of the desktop (or with each other). A long clamp made of profile pipes will be useful in cases where it is not possible to use a standard F-shaped or G-shaped clamp.

For this homemade product the following materials will be required: two pieces of a profile pipe 46 cm long, a hairpin, two pieces of a steel bar, and also metal strips of different lengths. To assemble such a clamp, you will not have to use welding, so this homemade product, in addition to low cost, is also distinguished by its simplicity of design.

Making a long clamp: progress

Since the main material for this homemade product is profile pipes, we will begin to manufacture the clamp with them. The first step is to drill three through holes: two of them, deviating from the edge of about 1-2 cm, and one in the center. On the other side of the pipes we make longitudinal slots with a grinder.

Four short pieces 50 mm long, as well as two long ones, 110 mm each, must be cut from the steel strip. Then through them it is necessary to drill through holes: on 11-centimeter segments on both sides, but on shorties - only on one. When the main parts are ready, proceed directly to the assembly of the long clamp. This process does not take much time.

First, with the help of bolts with nuts, it is necessary to fix long sections of steel strip on the profile pipes, and short ones on the opposite side, to which we weld rectangular plates. Two “barrels” must be cut from the round bar, in which we pre-drill through holes and cut the threads - a stud with a threaded sleeve is inserted into them.

To summarize

In this way, a powerful and reliable long clamp can be made of improvised materials, which will give odds to many factory clamps. A detailed process of manufacturing and assembly, see the video on the site.
