After laying ceramic tiles on the wall (inside or outside the room), it is necessary to perform the mandatory procedure - wipe the joints between the tiles. This can be done using a special rubber spatula.
A trowel for grouting can be bought at a hardware store or made with your own hands - for example, from plywood and a piece of shoe polyurethane. In this review, we will consider the second option.
To make a homemade spatula, you will need a template (it can be of any shape and size), a piece of flexible shoe polyurethane, as well as two pieces of plywood. Moreover, one piece of plywood should be slightly larger than the other.
The main stages of work
The first thing you need to glue together two pieces of plywood. Then we attach a template to the blank and outline it. Next, you need to drill two holes (in places of a semicircular transition) and cut a spatula on a band saw.
At the next stage, the author cuts two pads on the handle of a spatula made of solid wood (oak or walnut). Fits them to the shape of the handle, and then glues them.
Then the spatula will need to be processed on a grinding machine or grinder. Finishing of the product is already done manually - using sandpaper.
After this, it remains only to cut out a piece of polyurethane of the desired shape, and stick it to the plywood. The finished product can be varnished (there will be additional protection against moisture, which plywood is very afraid of).
