From the profile pipe, you can make a durable and relatively light trunk for the car. And in this review, the author shows the process of making a homemade trunk on the Niva.
The size of the trunk is 1600x1350 mm. Accordingly, for other cars, the dimensions will be different. As for the profile pipe, in this case the master uses a rectangular (20x30 mm) and square profile (10x10 mm).
First of all, it will be necessary to cut four pieces of the profile pipe at an angle of 45 degrees. Then from these blanks it is necessary to assemble a rectangular frame. For greater accuracy, we fix the profile pipes with magnetic corners and weld together.
The main stages of work
After that, the author cuts off two more pieces of the profile pipe (lintel) of rectangular section 20x30 mm, inserts them into the frame itself and welds it. Welds must be cleaned with a flap wheel for angle grinders.
At the next stage of the work, the author cuts the blanks of the required size from a square profile pipe 10x10 mm.
Short sections of the profile (approximately 5 cm long) must be welded vertically to the main frame, and the master welds a long piece of the profile pipe to them.
Further, the author makes fasteners from the profile pipe, which will need to be welded to the trunk. After that, you need to clean the metal with a grinder and paint.
