This article will be useful to fans of two-wheeled vehicles. The eternal problem is jamming of clutch cables, gas, brakes. They are not cheap, but disassembling them for maintenance is another quest. We will lubricate and develop the cable without removing and disassembling the motorcycle / bike. The method is quite simple and will suit everyone. In addition, it does not take much time and does not require the availability of special tools. Everything you need can be found in your garage. In a pinch, a hardware store or market can help you.
Will need
For work, we need:
- A piece of hose.
- Metal clamp.
- Pliers.
- Screwdriver.
- Liquid key.
Procedure
We take a hose and cut off a piece of the required length. We took transparent for convenience. So it will be seen when the liquid key goes into the cable cover.
We put a piece of hose on the upper end of the cable.
Then squeeze it with a clamp using a screwdriver.
In general, the main structure is ready.
From above, pour a liquid wrench into the hose. There is a wide variety of them, you can choose any in the car shop. When pouring, it is better to use the nozzle with an extension cord in the form of a thin tube that is worn on the sprayer that comes with the bottle. If the hose around the tube is clamped with pliers, then some excess pressure will be created inside it. This will speed up the process of fluid flow into the cable jacket.
Repeat the action until the liquid being poured from the opposite end of the casing.
The cable can be fixed back to the handle where it was installed and worked on it. Or just grab the pliers with a pair of pliers and pull it up / down several times.
Then pour it again with a liquid wrench. Repeat the previous steps until the cable runs easily and with minimal effort. The number of repetitions will depend on how long you have not serviced the cable and clamp mechanism before.
Some recommendations
Serve the cable at the required frequency. Even if it still does not jam, it is sometimes necessary to carry out this procedure. This problem arises from moisture entering the casing. The metal cable oxidizes and rusts, which increases its friction inside the casing and it seizes.
The liquid key is inferior in lubricating properties to special greases. After this procedure, you can pick up liquid lubricant and pour it into the hose. It will be much thicker than the liquid key, and the process will take longer. Ideal will be left overnight. But after that, the cables will be more resistant to corrosion.
